HOLLYWOOD—Leon Gast, noted documentary producer who won an Oscar for “When We Were Kings,” which told "the story behind the story" about the George Foreman-Muhammad Ali fight in Zaire in 1974, has now turned his cinematic skills and attention to Manny Pacquiao.
New Yorker Gast has a crew following Pacman, the 'Fighting Congressman,' in all his waking moments as he winds up training in Los Angeles for the November 13 Cowboys Stadium fight against Mexico's Antonio Margarito.
Gast, who attended Columbia University but dropped to become a well known photographer, broke into television production with Lowell Thomas on the “High Adventure” program which spanned the globe.
Gast also produced “Hell's Angels Forever” (about the outlaw motorcycle gang) and “The Grateful Dead Movie” about the extremely popular rock band.
