In what must surely rank as another travesty, the World Boxing Foundation has approved a WBF Asia-Pacific junior lightweight title fight between the Philippines Rolando Gerongco, who has lost five of his last six fights, against Australia’s Daniel Hoskins who has failed to win in his last eleven fights. The fight for the vacant title is scheduled for February 5 in Sydney, Australia.

Gerongco  dropped an eight round majority decision to Frankie Di Milo last December 17 after losing a four round majority decision to Mohammed Elomar last November 19 while Hoskins drew his last two fights over four and six rounds respectively. Prior to that he suffered a second round TKO in a scheduled six round bout against Allan Luxford on July 9 last year after losing by seventh round knockout to Arnel Porras.

Hoskins and Gerongco will be fighting for the title previously held by Baby Lorona Jr . WBF president Mick Croucher was reportedly forced to strip Lorona of the title which Lorona hadn’t defended since he won it in China in September 2003 against Thailand's Kongthawat Sorkitti.
