World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman who was bestowed the “Mr. Amigo” award as part of the festivities  held in the border cities of Matamoros , Tamaulipas, and Brownsville, Texas,  was given another honor as an  “Honorary Policeman” of Brownsville, Texas.

The WBC president accepted the honor with “great pleasure” and said the Brownsville Police Department was “a highly prepared and efficient one.”

In another accolade, South Mosp University of Texas, conferred on Sulaiman the title of Honorary Dean.

In his address before the audience composed mainly of youngsters,. Sulaiman exhorted them “to always fight against violence and look for world peace as well as peace in Texas, of course.”

In the afternoon, there was a parade that included floats and convertible cars. In addition, four former world champions, Humberto Gonzalez, Pipino Cuevas, Daniel Zaragoza and Guadalupe Pintor, who came from the capital of the Mexican Republic, offered several exhibitions which drew applause from the spectators and awakened public admiration for the former champions. 

In fact, the WBC noted that “Boxing, has actually come to revolutionize the inhabitants of this beautiful border city.”

At a gala dinner, WBC President Sulaiman from Ciudad Victoria , Tamaulipas, was officially presented with the “Mr. Amigo” award.
