World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman has been awarded the Medal of Honor by Africa’s Supreme Council for Sport.

The WBC has also built gymnasiums in five countries and plans more.

Don Jose, who was elected WBC President in Tunis in 1975, also spoke of his great pride that Samuel Peter has recently become the first African born heavyweight champion of the world.

The medal was presented in Sun City South Africa.

South Africa is free of apartheid, but Don Jose said that the WBC was previously determined to take a tough stance to help stamp it out because of the: “Against attacks on human dignity.” He explained that expelling  the South Africa of then from the WBC, was the first decision he took as ITS newly elected President.

This action won him recognition from the General Assembly of United Nations.
