The family of Hector Macho Camacho was given two WBC belts at the 50th Convention in the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun, as part of a homage to three departed boxing GREATS.
One of his sons - 20 year old Christian gave a heartfelt speech honoring his Father saying: "Our Father was more than a superstar. He was amazing. His blood runs through me. Today is a day we celebrate his life. Dad I just want to tell you that I love you. Now I lay you down to sleep. It's Macho Time!"
Christian also spoke of coincidences because he was the last amateur fighter Angelo Dundee trained before he passed away. And Emanuel Steward trained him for two years.
Another son, 22 year old Justin ,thanked the WBC saying the family appreciated the tribute to their father.
A packed Ratings Committee watched a film of Hector Macho Camacho's extraordinary ring achievments.
Camacho, Angelo Dundee and Emanuel Steward have died this year. WBC President Jose Sulaiman described Hector as: "One of the greatest of my time," Angelo as: "One of the greatest managers that ever lived," and Emanuel Steward: "Everyone knew how close he was to us, and us to him."
