The open scoring to be announced by the end of the fourth and eighth rounds in WBC world and regional title fights found an enthusiastic response in its introduction to the boxing fans, the press in general, boxers, promoters and boxing commissions during the title matches held in Japan on November 13 and in Germany on November 10.
Japan - November 13
4th round 8th round Final
Eagle Kyowa 39-39-39 75-75-74 114-113-113
Lorenzo Trejo 36-36-36 74-74-75 113-112-112
Hozumi Hasegawa 39-39-39 77-77-77 114-114-113
Genaro Garcia 36-35-36 71-71-72 110-110-111
All neutral judges and referees performed in these fights.
The boxers leading on points, Kyowa and Hasegawa, did not avoid mixing up to keep their lead on points, while those losing on points, Trejo and Garcia, turned loose to aim at a KO, which made the bouts more interesting and exciting.
The reports from the promoter or representatives are that the crowd enjoyed and accepted knowing the scoring; the fighters expressed full approval from their own benefit and the promoter was very enthusiastic believing that the new system made the bouts more exciting.
The report from Germany, was exactly the same, where the open scoring was:
Germany – November 10
4th round 8th round Final
Sinan Samil Sam 38-39-38 78-79-78 117-118-117
Bob Mirovic 38-37-38 75-73-72 112-111-108
Joseph Makaringe 38-39-40 76-76-77 113-112-115
Alpaslan Aguzum 38-38-36 76-77-75 115-116-112
The WBC is deeply enthusiastic and intensively interested knowing the results on this reform of new open scoring out of respect to the boxing fans, the boxers themselves, the press and boxing commissions, as it will make boxing more open and will give the opportunity to boxers to know the scoring and use their techniques accordingly.
We also believe that this will show scoring judges in their concentration, commitments and openness.
