Mexico City - October 19, 2004.
From WBC President Jose Sulaiman:

"The World Boxing Council has declared today as a day of world mourning in the WBC because of the passing away of David Chung of Korea. David worked as a judge in many world title fights, including many in the United States,  and was considered one of the best ring officials in the world. Personally, he was very well-liked and held in the highest esteem by everyone who knew him. He was a gentleman and will be missed very much.

"David refereed an OPBF title fight in Tokyo on Monday and a few hours after the event, collapsed and passed away from a heart attack.

"The WBC also regrets learning that the mother of Chuck Williams has passed away. Chuck is the WBC Convention Committee Chairman.

"The WBC sends its most sincere condolences to the Chung and Williams families and loved ones."
