The World Boxing Council Annual Convention will officially open in Chengdu, China on November 3 and WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman has assured all those attending the convention that the city is fine and has asked then “not to have any doubts in regard to any damage suffered in Chengdu at all” as a result of the recent devastating earthquake that hit the region.

Sulaiman said that “there was no damage by the earthquake in the city, the factories and the people, except some in the suburbs and the mountains.”

Sulaiman disclosed that the government, the Mayor, the Director of Sports and Madame Li who is the Vice Director are “most enthusiastic about the WBC Convention which will definitely open the doors to professional boxing in China” which he noted has great potential.

The WBC president expressed confidence that the leading world boxing organization would be “one of the greatest conventions ever.” Last year’s convention was held in Manila and was touted as the best ever.
