WBA light heavyweight champ Hugo Hernan Garay is now under the promotional banner of Universum Box Promotion. Garay looked like a much improved fighter last Saturday night whe he beat Jurgen Brahmer. Can we now please get Garay-Zsolt Erdei III? As for Brahmer ,some argue the fight against Garay proved he is not the real thing - I say the contrary: Brahmer is a genuine world class performer - but should perhaps look at returning to super middleweight.
K2 East - celebrating its first anniversary on November 22 - promotes a show billed as "Big Boxing" in Zaporizhzhja on December 20. Cruiserweight Vitaly Rusal headlines in a IBO I/C title fight against Hungarian Joszef Nagy.
Thomas Ulrich, former EBU champ at light heavyweight, aims to continue his career at cruiserweight.
Norwegian jr welterweight Geir Inge Jorgensen is in Hamburg sparring with, among others, EBU jr light challenger Vitali Tajbert. Jorgensen´s next fight could be on the Klitschko-Rahman bill in Mannheimon December 13 or in Poland on one of Andrei Gmitruk´s shows. As for Geir´s long planned shot at a "world" title - it´s again on hold.
German veteran Willie Fischer face Latvian champ Edgars Kalnars on December 13 in Mannheim on the Klitschko-Rahman bill. Kalnars have already been in Germany for a few weeks sparring first with Luan Krasniqi and now with Sebastian Koeber.
Berlin-based promotional outfits Wiking Box Team and Amadun Ltd join forces for a Christmas show Don ecember 21. On top Ahmed Zayab and Niko Schroeder clash for the inaugural German Youth title at welter. Giovanni "Mino" Bozzano have passed away at the age of 75. Bozzano won bronze at heavyweight in the 1956 Olympics and then turned pro compiling a 31-3 record beating Joey Maxim in 58 but losing to German Hans Kalbell in an eliminator for the EBU title.
