Francis and George Warren, the sons of veteran promoter Frank Warren, launched Queensberry Promotions with a York Hall show last Friday night. Liam Walsh’s Commonwealth super-featherweight title defence against Paul Appleby headlined the bill in a bout that produced fierce action before Appleby retired in the corner after ten tough rounds.
George Warren was delighted with a stirring evening’s boxing in front of a passionate capacity crowd. “It’s almost unbelievable to start a promotional career like that,” he said about the main event.
Adding: “I’m still in shock to be honest. One of the best fights I’ve ever seen. If that’s not won Fight of the Year, Mitchell vs. Murray has. Either way it’s within the Warren family. We’re delighted.”
