Frank Warren, the promoter of former world champion Tyson Fury (26-0, 19 KOs), says the boxer must shed off more weight before he returns on August 18th, as part of Carl Frampton's undercard at Windsor Park in Belfast.
Fury returned on Saturday night in Manchester, and picked up a fourth round TKO victory over Sefer Seferi.
It was Fury's first bout since November 2015, when he traveled over to Germany and shocked the world by winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Wladimir Klitschko to capture the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world titles.
Fury's inactivity was due to depression and heavy weight gain and eventually was stripped of all his titles.
He ballooned in weight and had to lose over 100-pounds.
But he was still a career high of 276-pounds when he stepped in the ring on Saturday night, and the flab around his midsection was on full display. Fury was 247-pounds for the win over Klitschko.
"Tyson needs to lose even more weight before he fights on Carl Frampton's card at Windsor Park on August 18. He is also aware there will be a higher calibre opponent," Warren told Daily Mail.
"We didn't try to kid anyone that Seferi was anything other than someone to help him ease into his comeback. Taking off all those stones in less than three months is physically draining and he also had to start shaking off the ring rust after such a long lay-off.' The clamour for Fury to set about regaining the several belts he gave over to Anthony Joshua will be resisted until next summer. Tyson needs more time and more fights."
Fury however, enjoyed himself in the ring - "I was enjoying myself so much. I loved being back in the big time, beneath the big lights, in front of a big crowd. He might have added: 'Under the big top.' It was a circus until he opened up in the fourth. He ended that round with an uppercut so solid that Seferi chose to quit on his stool. I could have knocked him out in the first ten seconds. But I was saving him for the fifth, which was the round I had told everyone I would stop him."
