Promoter Frank Warren is stunned that Scott Gammer's manager Paul Boyce has turned down a mega £100,000 pay day for his man to fight Audley Harrison on February 17 at Wembley Arena.
Warren offered Boyce the opportunity for Gammer to make a voluntary defence of his British Heavyweight title against Harrison after Danny Williams could not make the February 16 date in Port Talbot - due to a British Boxing Board of Control suspension - following his loss to the Olympic Champion earlier this month.
Boyce has now said there is no incentive for Gammer to defend his title against Harrison as the offer wasn't what he wanted financially and he has other plans for the unbeaten Welsh puncher.
Warren said, "I'm stunned that Boyce has turned down the biggest pay day of Gammer's career. I don't think the purses from his last five fights add up to the amount I'm offering him to defend his title against Harrison. Maybe Gammer has something different to say about it than Boyce? Here's a chance for Gammer to make a name for himself and if he losses to Harrison it will be good experience and one that he can come back from. The offer is still there for them but I reckon Boycie will have to discuss it with Marlene first!"
