The final bout of the Super Six tournament is finally set. Super middleweight champion Carl Froch and Andre Ward are set to meet in the final bout of the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Froch, the WBC champion, won a twelve round majority decision over Glen Johnson to advance to the final fight, while Ward dominated ex-middleweight king Arthur Abraham for a twelve round decision.

Andre, what is your assessment of the fight [between Froch and Johnson]?

"It was a tough, gruelling fight. Both men got hit with some big shots. Both men answered back. That's what a

champion is supposed to do and a former champion in Glen Johnson is supposed to do, so I wasn't surprised at all.

That's why I called it 50-50 from the start."

Gray: You two guys are two of the Super Six originals. You said that the people wanted this, and you wanted this why?

Ward: "Well, I just think again, stylistically that it makes sense, and once again, like you mentioned, we're the guys who started out in this tournament. So I think that it's natural and fitting that we be the two guys in the finals."

Gray: Carl told Gus Johnson and Al Bernstein and Antonio Tarver that he can beat you and he has the formula and that moving forward is not something that you can handle. He believes that he's going to win the fight, and that already started yesterday before this fight. What's your response to that?

Ward: Well he's supposed to feel that way. It would be wrong if he felt any other way. But I feel the same way. Everybody feels that they have a formula, but like I always say, when these lights turn on, it's a matter of who can get it done, and that's what it boils down to."

Gray: What did you learn tonight? It seemed as though Johnson was able to hit him with that right hand almost repeatedly.

Ward: Well I'm not going to go into it too much, but obviously, Carl Froch gave up some sucker shots. And what I mean by that is that that they were shots that he didn't have to get hit with. But again, to his credit, he battled back and he did what he had to do, so how can you be mad at him?"

Gray to Froch: What is the formula to beat Andre Ward, and why did you say that you had it?

Froch: Well me and my trainer have got the forumula. You will find out why I said that when we box. It's going to be a great sporting ocasion, the Super Six final when two of the original six line up.  I knew that it would be me and Ward in the final. I'm looking forward to it and I feel that I can beat him, and he said that he's sure that he can beat me. I'm the WBC champion, and this guy is the WBA champion. This is going to be an unbelievable final. He beat Mikkel Kessler, a guy that beat me, and I don't feel that he did enough to win, but it wasn't a fantastic one-sided performance, and I feel that I got the best of Kessler. And I'd love that rematch, that's another fight that I want."

"But let's get to the Super Six final first, and Carl Froch and Andre Ward, what an exciting fight. WBC and WBA champion, this is what the tournament's about, and this is what the sport is about. Let's not forget that it's a sport, and it's a great sport. It's a sport that we both love. Olympic gold medalist and a world champinship bronze medalist [pointing to himself,] but amateur's different than being a proefessional. He was a tough amateur, and I was a tough amateur, and we're both top professionals. We're both in the Super Six finals. I believe that I can win. I know that I can beat this guy. We're both that good. We might fight each other 10 times, and it might be five-all, but on the night is what counts."

Ward: Would you let me have an answer that long, Jim? It's the grand finale. Everybody has said it. This is what everybody has wanted, and this is what everybody has been clamoring for. So it's time to get it on. We've fought the best of over the last two years, two years and a half, or whatever it's been. Two titles are going on the line, and I want that trophy in my trophy case. Obviously, he's going to try to stop that from happening, so that's what makes this fight so big."
