Super middleweight prospect Andre Ward (14-0, 9KOs) made Roger Cantrell (12-1, 8KOs) eat his words at the at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St. Lucia by showcasing his superior skills on route to a fifth-round stoppage.

The 2004 Olympic Gold Medal winner was in total control, picking Cantrell apart over five rounds when the fight was suddenly stopped. Ward is looking to land a career defining fight in 2008. Initially there was talk of a possible bout with Edison Miranda, but that plan will have to wait as Miranda is taking an tuneup in January and then facing unbeaten Jean Pascal in June.

In the main event, heavyweight Joey Abell (18-1, 17KOs) won a ten-round majority decision to snap the unbeaten streak of Teke Oruh (14-1-1, 6KOs). Abell, known as an up and comer with power in both hands, decided to box with Oruh in a bout that lacked the expected fireworks. The scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 98-92 for Abell.
