Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City - Andre Ward (25-0, 13KOs) dominated Carl Froch (28-2, 20KOs) over twelve rounds to win the Super Six tournament, and unifies the WBA and WBC super middleweight titles. After two long years, the Super Six Boxing Classic comes to an end. Ward is the only boxer to go undefeated in the entire Super Six tourney. During the tourney he won decisions over Mikkel Kessler, Allan Green and Arthur Abraham.
The scores were 115-113, 115-113 [odd scores, even the British announcers had Ward up by five and six points] and 118-110.
Ward's jab, counter-punching and eye-catching punches were too much for Froch to handle. Froch's punches were not fast enough and Ward saw them coming almost every time. Ward gave Froch plenty of opportunities to change the tide when he pushed Froch back and fought him on the inside, but the Olympian's reflexes were too quick to get tagged with anything of note.
Froch appeared to be surprised with Ward's willingness to trade punches up close and couldn't deal with the speed of the incoming punches. Froch's crisp jab, which he used to great success against Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson, was countered or fell short. Froch came on in the last two rounds, but it was way, way too late.
