World Boxing Council minimumweight world champion Wanheng Menayothin (42-0-0, 17 KOs) of Thailand is already training diligently for his upcoming mandatory defense against Mexico's Saul “Baby” Juarez (23-4-1, 12 KOs).
They are scheduled to fight on August 4th in the champion's backyard of Chonburi, Thailand.
Menayothin is coming off a successful defense after retaining his world title against Japan's Go Odaira, in March of this year. This was the fourth defense of the belt he conquered after defeating Mexican veteran Oswaldo “Gallito” Novoa.
Saul “Baby” Juarez, insists he is very motivated, and delighted to be traveling to Thailand in order to conquer the WBC world title. Juarez earned the title shot back in March, following a ten round decision win over Novoa in their third fight in Metepec, Mexico.
Scores for their Televisa-televised World Boxing Council (WBC) title eliminator were 99-90, 98-91 and 97-92 in favor of Juarez. He dropped and won an eight round decision over Novoa in 2008, and then they fought to a one round technical draw in 2015 after a clash of heads in the first round.
Juarez began making noise last year after stopping former world champion Adrian Hernandez in what many saw as an upset, but then he followed up the feat a few months later with a twelve round decision win over Hernandez in their rematch.
