Unbeaten lightweight Jamel Herring will fight Oscar Cortes on June 26, Gordon Hall confirmed to BoxingScene.com on Wednesday morning.
Hall is the Vice President of Production for Showtime and the Executive Producer of ShoBox series.
The eight round bout will take place at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Wash. and will be televised live on Showtime, beginning at 10:35 p.m. ET.
Herring (11-0, 7 KOs) won a one-sided eight round decision over Hector Marengo in his last bout on March 6 in Las Vegas, Nev. Herring represented the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Originally from Coram, N.Y., Herring might get a significant push this year considering he will turn 30 later this fall.
Cortes (25-2, 13 KOs) has not fought since October 25, when he won an eight round unanimous decision over Heberto Persico in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico.
Cortes, who will turn 22 the day before the Herring fight, turned pro at the age of 16 in October of 2009. Both of Cortes’ losses have been by knockout.
In the main event, Dominic Wade (17-0, 12 KOs) will fight former world titleholder Sam Soliman (44-12, 18 KOs) in a 10 round bout.
