There appears to be some trouble in the ongoing discussions to finalize the fight between IBO/IBF/WBO/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 51 KOs) and undefeated Polish challenger Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KOs).
According to Mariusz Kolodziej of Global Boxing Promotions, they have not accepted a deal to face Wladimir on November 10th in Hamburg, Germany - citing a contract clause that obligates Wach to K2 Promotions for three fights.
"By the end of this week, we'll make a decision if we'll agree to their terms, because for now these terms are damaging for Wach. If Mariusz defeats Klitschko, we will become slaves to the German company. He will have to fight three fights on their terms," he said.
The Polish promoter is considering another direction, by taking part in a final WBC eliminator to become the mandatory to older brother Vitali and that would prevent K2 from requesting numerous future options on the Polish giant.
"We have other opportunities. We can make a fight with Bermane Stiverne of Canada, who is number two in the WBC rankings. In the event we win, we will be first in line to face Vitali Klitschko," Kolodziej said.
"There is no rush. If we don’t reach an agreement, a title shot won’t get away from us. Mariusz has time. There are initial arrangements, but let’s wait. If they don’t agree to our terms, we will make a fight with Stiverne or we can face Ray Austin in December. We will get Klitschko either way."
