Vladimir Hernandez and Francisco Veron have made weight for their junior middleweight clash on Saturday at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.
Hernandez tipped the scales at 153.2lbs, while Veron came in at 153.6lbs.
Hernandez, 17-6 (7 KOs), is on a three-fight win streak since fighting on ProBox TV, reviving his career, picking up a Knockout of the Year contender against Guido Emmanuel Schramm, and being involved in a Fight of the Year with Raul Garcia. Hernandez, a 36-year-old from Stockton, California – a two-hour drive from Fresno – is hoping to position himself with a win as an unlikely title contender.
Veron, 14-1-1 (10 KOs), last fought in August in the OTX Boxing junior middleweight tournament, tasting his lone career defeat against Brandon Adams. Veron, a 26-year-old from Buenos Aires, Argentina, also fought Jahi Tucker to a draw. Veron is coming off an 11-month layoff.
In the co-feature, undefeated junior flyweight Erik Badillo, 17-0 (8 KOs), of Distrito Federal, Mexico, came in at 107.4lbs, while Nicaragua’s Gerardo Zapata, who trains in Miami, came in at 107.4lbs. The fight is a WBC junior flyweight title eliminator. The winner will be mandatory for the current titleholder Panya Pradabsri.
Badillo, a 29-year-old southpaw, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Miguel Angel Herrera in November, which snapped his three-fight knockout streak. Zapata, 15-2-1 (5 KOs), fought for the WBO strawweight title against Oscar Collazo, impressively making it to the final bell against the power-puncher, losing a 12-round unanimous decision. Zapata, 30, won a unanimous decision over Azael Villar in March.
The card will stream on ProBox TV and ProBox TV’s YouTube.
