Speaking with the Golzka paper, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko said his younger brother, WBO/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is ready to unify the titles with the WBA titleholder David Haye. There are negotiations ongoing for the possible contest. Wladimir is still recovering from an abdominal injury. Vitali is going to defend his title against Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis in early 2011.
Vitali thinks it's the perfect time to make the fight because both boxers are not under any outside pressure to make any mandatory defenses. Both champions are in the voluntary stage and are able to make the fight happen. If they can't reach a deal with Haye, then Wladimir will revisit undefeated Dereck Chisora.
"Wladimir is ready to fight Haye. It is Haye who always comes up with excuses. Last year we had a signed contract and that wasn't enough. Haye has the last title remaining that doesn't belong to a Klitschko. There are no problems with us to make a fight with Haye," Vitali said.
