World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman says that he would support a voluntary defense by by champion Vitali Klitschko against the WBA's titleholder Nikolai Valuev, if Vitali defeats mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez.

Vitali fights Juan Carlos on March 21 st in Stuttgart. While IBF, WBO and IBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir appears to he heading for a clash with David Haye in Britain on June 20 th .

Don Jose said: “If Vitali defeats Juan Carlos Gomez and he wants to fight Valuev, the WBC will approve that fight. I believe that the Board of Governors will support that.”

But first, Vitali has to get past Gomez who’s a worthy challenger.

Don Jose stressed: “Gomez is not a pushover. He is an excellent boxer. He’s not a puncher, but he can box, and this matter between a puncher who can box and an excellent boxer.”

At the WBC’s November Convention in Cheng Du, China, Vitali stressed the brotherly focus on gaining the four heavyweight belts. The only person still standing in their way is giant Valuev who hold the WBA belt.

WBC Cyber Strategy

The World Boxing Council is going to put the ring on the web, in a bold bid to teach boxing strategy.

The WBC will use their website to help trainers, by virtually displaying fight techniques, how to get the best out of preparation and conditioning, medical attention, tips for seconds, refereeing plus judging.

The plan is for a year-long program. And it’s hoped that the first class will be in March, about the gym and its equipment.

The WBC is keen to use the expertise of the best trainers which are available to participate in the program.

WBC President Jose Sulaiman explained that one important aim of this web initiative, is to try to help judging to become more objective, with a greater specific basis on technical aspects.
