According to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41KOs), he is "not even thinking about David Haye" when asked about a potential match in 2013. Vitali, who is still mulling the future of his boxing career, says Haye "has lied" about the details of their past negotiations and had "several opportunities" to make their fight happen.
Haye is calling for a fight with Vitali, but the 41-year-old champion is considering a career in politics.
There is a final WBC eliminator scheduled for next year between Bermane Stiverne and Chris Arreola. Vitali already holds a one-sided TKO victory over Arreola and there is very little interest in a fight with Stiverne.
Vitali's manager, Bernd Boente, said the winner of Arreola-Stiverne is not the type of opponent they would want for a "farewell fight" to a long career filled with success.
