WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has issued his response to the claims coming from Brtish heavyweight Dereck Chisora and his promoter Frank Warren. Vitali's younger brother Wladimir Klitschko was going to make a defense of his IBO/WBO/IBF titles against Chisora on Saturday at the SAP Arena in Germany. An abdominal injury, suffered Wednesday, forced Wladimir to withdraw from the contest.

Chisora has made claims that Wladimir's injury is not legitimate. He told reporters that Wladimir was afraid of losing and pulled out. There have also been rumors that Wladimir created the injury as an excuse to withdraw for the purpose of fighting WBA champion David Haye. Vitali says both of those claims are false.

"And what exactly would have prevented him from fighting with Chisora, and then with the Haye? To those who have doubts, I want to say this - there is a medical report and the results contained confirm the injury. Chisora's team and other promoters who are speculating on this topic, they can become familiar with it. We play fair and all of our are on cards on the table," Vitali was quoted by Golzka.
