WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, in an interview with MK, spoke about his future rival - undefeated Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis of Cuba. Klitschko will take this challenge very seriously. He feels Solis is going to present a tough fight. Solis defeated Ray Austin by disqualification to get his shot at Klitschko.
"I watched his fight [with Austin] on the internet. I can say that I will face a very serious contender, a 2004 Olympic champion, as well as a three-time world champion in amateur boxing. But in this battle, I'll have to prove that amateur and professional boxing - are two different kinds of sports. Of course, there are parallels - boxer shorts, gloves. But there are huge differences. In the ring I will prove that the world champion among professionals is much better than the world champion of the amateurs," Klitschko said.
Negotiations for the contest have not come easy. Solis and his promoter co-promoter Don King are requesting a lot of money for the fight. It's expected for the financial issue to be resolved by way of a mandatory purse bid.
"I note that we will have to contend not only with Solis, but with one of his promoters, which is the most notorious "evildoer" Don King. He can not wait for the Klitschko brothers to stumble. But we are accustomed to putting him in his place," Klitschko said.
