Olympiahalle, Munich, Germany - Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40KOs) retained the WBC heavyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over a very tough Dereck "Del Boy" Chisora (15-3, 9KOs). Prior to this match, Chisora vowed to redeem the UK public by putting forth a game performance after the lackluster effort from David Haye in last July's loss to younger brother Wladimir Klitschko. The scores were 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111.

The fight started at a quicker pace than some of Vitali's past fights. Chisora pushed the tempo by coming forward and threw a lot of punches. Many of the shots were off the mark with Vitali landing hard counters in return. Chisora certainly came to fight and landed good punches to the head and body of Klitschko in several of the rounds. Because of Chisora's aggressive nature, Vitali abandoned the jab and used hard right hands to keep Chisora back. In the championship rounds, Chisora was coming forward but not active enough to change the tide.  

In an extremely boring and tedious fight, WBC #5 and IBF #11 American contender Johnathon Banks (28-1-1, 18 KOs) retained his NABF heavyweight title in a stinker against popular Ohio-native Nicolai Firtha (20-10-1, 9 KOs).

Firtha was too busy showing his inability to throw punches and put them together while the much more skilled Banks was content by beating Firtha with the jab. The two Americans rarely engaged in any heated exchanges until the ninth round, when Firtha, feeling that he had nothing to lose, marched forward to little effect. Banks was more effective throughout the whole fight. He landed a picture-perfect right hook to the jaw to wobble Firtha in the third and continued to pin-point him with shots and cut his nose to pieces. Firtha was very tired in the final stanzas but managed to end the fight on his feet.

All three judges awarded the bout to Johnathon Banks: 119-109 (twice) and 120-108. BoxingScene had it 120-108.

WBO #5 light welterweight Sergey Fedchenko (30-1. 13 KOs) of Kharkiv, Ukraine, easily dominated previously undefeated Hungarian trialhorse Laszlo Fazekas (now 8-1-1, with 6 KOs) over eight rounds on route to a convincing unanimous decision, but clearly not impressed against an overmatched opponent. Fedchenko didn't step on the gas pedal and chose to fence with an inexperienced opponent, who was brought in as cannon fodder, instead of stopping him early. As a result, Magyar's face turned into a bloody mask but there were no knockdowns. Scores were 80-72, 80-73 and 79-73 - for Fedchenko. BoxingScene had it 80-72 - also for the Ukrainian.

Former British featherweight champion Stephen Smith (13-1, 7KOs) stopped Arpad Vass (7-3, 5 KO) in the first round of action. Smith is scheduled to fight again at The Troxy on March 2nd. He will take on Ben Jones (12-2-1, 4KOs) for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title.
