There is still no official announcement from K2 Promotions, but it is almost certain that Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez will defend his WBC flyweight title against Brian Viloria on October 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The fight will be part of the Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux HBO Pay-Per-View.

The opponent of Gonzalez has been in negotiations for weeks, with names like Giovani Segura, Ivan Morales and McWilliams Arroyo being mentioned for the contest. Viloria was also a major figure of discussion for the fight.

Viloria took to the social networks on Monday to announce to his followers - "The deal is done. The official announcement in a couple of days."

There has been no confirmation that a financial agreement was finalized on Gonzalez's end. The Nicaraguan puncher said all along he was willing to face Viloria if the money was right.

K2 Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions are co-promoting the event. Viloria is promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Viloria, 34 years old, has a record of 36-4, with 22 knockouts. He was the champion until he was unseated by Mexico's Juan Francisco "Gallo" Estrada in April 2013. Since that defeat, he has won four straight, including the quick knockout in the first round of Omar Soto on July 25.

"Chocolatito" has one of the best records in boxing, 43-0, with 37 knockouts, and regarded as one of the 10 best pound for pound fighters in the world.
