WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria appeared on the most recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show. Viloria is coming off a huge upset win over Mexican slugger Giovani Segura. It was a fight in which most pundits gave "The Hawaiian Punch" little chance to win.
The Boxing Lab's Luis Sandoval asked Viloria if he was looking at giving Segura a rematch.
"No, not really," Viloria answered. "Maybe if the fight was closer it would make sense but I don't think that is the best fight out there for me right now."
Viloria plans to return to the ring in the first quarter of next year and has a lot of options to choose from. We asked Viloria if there was a particular fight that interested him and he revealed that a unification fight with WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam intrigued him. The long time champion usually fights in the comforts of his native Thailand. Viloria would like to face him in neutral territory.
"I would to fight Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. We could fight at a neutral venue. Malaysia and Japan are two places where I think the fight makes sense," said Viloria.
