Vikapita Meroro — a light heavyweight from Namibia whose record includes losses to former titleholder Juergen Braehmer and current contender Isaac Chilemba — has been accused of kidnapping a child and threatening to assault his girlfriend, according to that country’s New Era newspaper.

“It is not known whether it is his child,” the article said of the kidnapping charge.

Meroro was arrested Sunday and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

He is 23-4 with 11 knockouts in a pro career that began in 2005. His last appearance was March 2, a third-round stoppage of a 15-5-2 opponent named Hamza Wandera, according to BoxRec.com. The defeats against Braehmer and Chilemba came in April 2012 and March 2011, respectively.
