On the undercard to Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, junior welterweight prospect "Vicious" Victor Ortiz (23-1, 18KOs) beat up Jeffrey Resto (22-3, 13KOs) on route to a second round stoppage.

During the first, a straight left hand sent Resto down on his back. A few seconds later, another straight left sent Resto down again. Ortiz jumped on to finish and began to punish Resto against the ropes. Resto changed from southpaw to a conventional stance and managed to finish the round by keeping Ortiz at bay with a jab.

Ortiz continued to come forward in the second and battered Resto down after some punishment against the ropes. The ref stopped the fight when Resto got up on unsteady legs.
