Former welterweight titleholder Victor Ortiz will be back in the ring in early November, according to a post on his Instagram account.
“Heads up, I’m back in the ring on first week of November!” Ortiz wrote. “I’m stoked about it! Thought it would be late October but apparently as of today Coach Joel Diaz stated to me first week of November…thank you for the support !!!”
Ortiz is on a three-fight losing streak. He was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2011, was upset in nine by Josesito Lopez in June 2012 and suffered a broken jaw in the process, and returned this past January to suffer a second-round knockout loss to Luis Collazo.
He has also appeared on the “Dancing with the Stars” television show and in the action movie “The Expendables 3.”
The 27-year-old is 29-5-2 with 22 KOs.
It wasn’t clear exactly which day Ortiz will be fighting. He is signed with powerful adviser Al Haymon, who has several boxers appearing on a Nov. 1 show in Chicago airing on Showtime.
Meanwhile, there’s a card Golden Boy Promotions is doing with Main Events on Nov. 8 featuring a main event of Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev.
And there could be other shows in the works that have not yet been announced.
