BoxingScene.com ran into junior welterweight "Vicious" Victor Ortiz (24-2) after Vitali Klitschko's big win over Chris Arreola.  Ortiz speaks about his recent surgery and his upcoming return to the ring.  He also reflects on his loss to Marcos Rene Maidana and how he is having trouble getting the rematch he is desperately seeking.  Also see what his dream fight would be in this BoxingScene exclusive.

BoxingScene:  Its been a while since we have spoken Victor.  Tell me what is new with you?

Victor Ortiz:  Not much.  I actually experienced my first summer just having fun and enjoying myself.   You know other than having this cast it was pretty cool.

BoxingScene:  A cast...what for?

Victor Ortiz:  I had surgery on my right wrist.  It was shattered two weeks before my last... oh never mind it was shattered.

BoxingScene:  You knocked Maidana down three times with a shattered wrist?

Victor Ortiz:  That is what I heard.  I can't really comment on that fight.  I don't really recall.  I recall something and that was a straight right that I ran into and after that it just shut down my computer for the night.  I was good though.  I guess I was good (laughing).

BoxingScene:  What about the rumor of you returing to action in December?

Victor Ortiz:  Definitely.  I never left you know.  I guess some things were kind of misinterpreted by our good ol' friend Max.  I never quit.  I never turned my back on the sport.  I love boxing.  That is what I have been doing since I was a youngster.

BoxingScene:  I meant more that you got a break after the loss and now you are returning to action.  A break can do you good sometimes.

Victory Ortiz:  Oh yeah.  I wasn't really planning on resting but with that cast I had to.  It had me so sad because I couldn't even go to a gym or anything.

BoxingScene:  Do you know who you are going to fight yet?

Victor Ortiz:  I have no idea.  I have been trying to get the rematch but that dude (Maidana) isn't giving it up man.

BoxingScene:  So Maidana doesn't want to fight you?

Victor Ortiz:  Nope.

BoxingScene:  So are you calling him out?

Victor Ortiz:  I tried a few times already.  It isn't working.  Its ok though its not a big deal.

BoxingScene:  After you get back in the ring and assuming you win is your main goal for 2010 getting the rematch?

Victor Ortiz:  Honestly we have talked to him and asked for the rematch and if thats not the case then I have to fight other people.  I just don't know any names right now.  Who ever it is I am going to make sure I am ready.

BoxingScene:  Do you know where the fight is going to be?

Victor Ortiz:  There is a rumor about Staples Center and a rumor about Nevada so I have no idea.

Boxing Scene:  Who is your ideal opponent besides Maidana?

Victor Ortiz:  I would love to fight Ricky Hatton.

Boxing Scene:  That would be an interesting fight.

Victor Ortiz:  Definitely.  That is something I am really interested in.

BoxingScene:  Do you have a message for the fans?

Victor Ortiz:  Thanks for all the support.  That is awesome that you show me a lot of love.  I am always here for you guys and I am not going anywhere anytime soon.
