At the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, junior welterweights Lamont Peterson (28-1-1, 14KOs) and Victor Ortiz (28-2-1, 22KOs) fought to a ten round majority draw. The scores were 94-94, 94-94 and 95-93 Peterson.
The fight appeared like it would be over early as Ortiz imposed his size on Peterson and dropped him twice in the third round. Peterson continued to get rocked but then he started to compose himself and began to outbox Ortiz and use hard counter shots to shake Ortiz up and began to win rounds with the judges. Ortiz let the moment slip away to stop Peterson in the third and it cost him in the end.
