A source close to the camp of junior welterweight Victor Cayo (23-0, 15KOs), advised BoxingScene.com that Marcos Maidana (26-1, 25KOs) is the preferred opponent for their fighter's next ring appearance.
Cayo picked up his biggest win on Friday night with a ten round decision over former champion Julio Diaz at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Maidana is the WBA's interim champion. I've heard Amir Khan, the full champion, turned a Maidana fight down and plans to make his mandatory defense against unbeaten Dmitriy Salita. Maidana picked up the biggest win of his career back in June, a six-round TKO of highly regarded Victor Ortiz.
