While significant fight cards take place in Las Vegas over the weekend, pro boxing makes its return to the 'Valley of the Sun.'
Lightweight Victor Castro will fight Angel Martinez on Saturday night at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. The eight round bout will headline an "Iron Boy 23" card, presented by Iron Boy Promotions.
Castro (15-0, 7 KOs) resides in the Phoenix area, where he has fought all but one of his pro bouts. His only bout outside the Phoenix took place in his last bout on April 25, a six round decision win over Adalberto Borquez in Tijuana, Mexico.
In his previous bout on February 28, Castro knocked out Ivan Zavala in the third round.
Martinez (14-6-1, 10 KOs) began his pro career unbeaten in his first 14 bouts, but has lost six of his last seven bouts. All six of his losses have been by knockout.
Martinez's most notable bouts have been against Lucas Matthysse (sixth round technical knockout loss) and Marcos Maidana (third round knockout loss).
Other notable fighters from the Phoenix area will also fight on the card.
Featherweight Carlos Castro (10-0, 4 KOs) will fight Cesar Garcia (11-18-1, 5 KOs) in a six round bout. Unbeaten Francisco De Vaca (11-0, 4 KOs) will face Jose Silveria (15-14, 6 KOs) in a six round featherweight bout.
At least six more bouts will round out the card.
