Heavyweight prospect Victor Bisbal, ranked at #15 under the World Boxing Organization, is expected to recover in time from an operation on his right knee to reappear in December. He wants to avenge the recent TKO loss of his good friend Carlos Negron, who was knocked out by Colombian Epifanio Mendoza.
"I had to have knee surgery last week. But I am feeling better and recovering. I was going to return in November on the undercard of the Juana Diaz card. Carlos was going to be the headliner but lost. Now I'm on schedule for December and would like to face Mendoza to get even for the defeat of my friend," he said.
Bisbal, with a track record of 19-1 and 13 knockouts, is well ranked by the WBO and wants to take the right steps to a regional title and perhaps a world title.
"I want this opportunity. I think a win over Mendoza in order to avenge Negron, will give me more drive to get the best fights in 2012. I just hope, God willing, that things take their course in a positive way."
