At the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, former IBF flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan (30-1-1, 24 KOs) knocked out Dimitri "The Baby" Kirilov (29-4-1, 10 KOs) in the fifth-round to capture the IBF junior bantamweight title.

Darchinyan began to batter Kirilov in the first round with vicious left hands. In the second, Darchinyan continued to land the left hand, swelling both eyes of Kirilov. The third saw Kirilov wake up and start trying to trade shots. Darchinyan continued to will his way through Kirilov's guard to land the left hand.

As they traded in the fourth, Darchinyan's left hand continued to damage Kirilov. A combination of hard punches sent Kirilov down in the fifth, moments later a hard left hand would send Kirilov down flat on his back and he was unable to beat the count. Kirilov's first knockout loss.
