Detectives working the murder case of Vernon Forrest believe they will catch the killers responsible. Last Saturday in Atlanta, Forrest was shot seven to eight times in the back during a robbery near a gas station. While it was originally thought that two men were responsible, the police now say that three to four men could be involved. Forrest, also armed, chased after one suspect after he was robbed of his wallet, the two exchanged fire from their guns and Forrest was later shot from behind as he walked back the gas station.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that Atlanta police have surveillance video of at least one suspect involved in the killing. The video is from cameras at the gas station where Forrest was robbed and a nearby apartment complex. Police told the paper that the images are good enough to catch the suspect. Police hope that once they catch the suspect caught on video, they will catch the other men involved.
“The images are good enough to get a mugshot of the robber,” Detective Lt. Keith Meadows said.
