BoxingScene.com has been advised that a fight between fast rising prospect Vergil Ortiz (13-0 13 KOs) and once-beaten contender Antonio Orozco (28-1 17 KOs) is being negotiated for August 10th in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The fight would headline a Golden Boy Promotions' card that would be streamed by DAZN.

The 21-year-old Ortiz is being moved very fast and would be taking a step up in class for the second fight in a row.  On the Canelo Alvarez-Danny Jacobs undercard in May he stopped former interim champion Mauricio Herrera in 3 rounds. This would be his 3rd fight of the year.

Orozco suffered the only loss of his career last September when he lost to WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez in an exciting fight in the champion's hometown.  He bounced back from that fight in March with a unanimous decision victory over Jose Luis Rodriguez.

Ortiz has fought at super lightweight for most of his career but our sources say that if an agreement is reached the fight will be at the welterweight weight limit.  Ortiz's fight against Herrera was at the welterweight limit and Orozco has previously missed making the super lightweight so fighting at 147 pounds should benefit both fighters.
