Vergil Ortiz Jr. intends to seek his fourth victory of the year and the fifteenth in his career on December 13 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
The opponent that Ortiz Jr. will face is about to be appointed.
At the rate of knockouts, including one this year against former champion Mauricio Herrera and high-ranking Antonio Orozco, Vergil believes that the time for great fights are coming.
"I already have four weeks of training, the idea is to return on December 13 in Indio, we still have no opponent," said Ortiz who has knocked out each of the 14 foes he has faced as a professional, to ESPN Deportes.
"I feel strong at welterweight, I couldn't do 140 pounds anymore, we decided to go up and I feel even stronger," he added.
With great goals in his career, Ortiz is hoping that the big fights will arrive next year.
"I'm focused on December, but of course there are big plans. It doesn't matter if the most attractive opponents are on the other side of the street, if they want to fight then they are going to fight. My goal is the championship and it matters to take the necessary risks," Ortiz said.
"There are Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, and obviously I would be interested in fighting with a legend like Manny Pacquiao, it would be an honor to share the ring with someone like him.
"The truth is that I do not intend to take anything lightly, there are risky fights. Errol Spence Jr. himself, if it comes out well from what has happened, the good thing is that we are focused."
