The undefeated Latino lightweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) was operated on in Los Angeles by specialist Dr. Steven Shin, who was selected in 2014 as the best hand surgeon by Castle Collony: Top Doctors.

"It was a success," Shin said after completing the procedure. "Everything is like new."

The renowned specialist has operated other top athletes, such as Vasyl Lomachenko, Brandon Rios, LaMarcus Aldridge, among others.

Shin said Verdejo will be evaluated again next Monday, and also said that "Diamante" can not have any contact with his left hand for three months.
