Egis Klimas, manager of WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2KOs) of Ukraine, says his fighter is still on pace to return on a date in November in Dubai. Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is planning to stage a huge boxing event in Dubai in the fall.
Arum had wanted Lomachenko to face Nicholas Walters in a unification fight. Earlier this month that fight fell apart after Walters failed to make weight for a voluntary defense against Miguel Marriaga. Walters won the fight quite handedly, but it's already been decided that he intends to move up to super featherweight.
Lomachenko wants to unify the division and he's willing to fight any of the champions - including IBF champion Lee Selby, WBA champion Jesus Cuellar and WBC champion Gary Russell Jr. - who Lomachenko already decisioned last year.
"The next fight for Lomachenko is scheduled for November," said Klimas. "The candidate for the opponent is still in discussions, but I can say that Bob Arum wants the fight to take place in Dubai. As far as Vasyl, he wants to unify the belts at featherweight and he's interested in fighting with any of the champions."
