WBA 'regular' junior welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9KOs) confidently believes he is the "Plan B" option for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao - if the Filipino star is unable to secure a mega-fight with WBC/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the first half of 2015.

Vargas was showcased on HBO three times in 2014, with two of those fights taking place on HBO Pay-Per-View undercards where Pacquiao was the main event.

He defeated former champion Antonio DeMarco, undefeated Anton Novikov and undefeated Khabib Allakhverdiev.

Now Vargas feels ready to face and beat Pacquiao.

"It would be a great fight. I believe it would be a war, a very competitive match up that the fans would really enjoy. I know it because I don’t back down and he’s a puncher and I’m a puncher. I would elevate my game being in front of a fighter like Manny Pacquiao, it would make me perform that much better," Vargas tells On The Ropes Boxing Radio .

"I have a lot of respect for Manny Pacquiao but once you’re in the ring, you’re in there to take care of business and I believe that I have what it takes to beat him, I truly believe so. I would like the opportunity, that way I could show the fans who Jessie Vargas really is. All I need is that opportunity."
