Rising junior middleweight star Vanes Martirosyan reached out to BoxingScene after reading some of the back and forth talk between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul Alvarez that has appeared on Boxingscene over the last few days. The Armenian wanted to propose an idea.
"Ryan, I read that Chavez and Alvarez want to fight each other. I say let them fight each other and I will fight Cotto," Vanes said.
Martirosyan proposed that the fights be set up like a four man single elimination tournament. "The two winners can square off. Those would all be good fights that the fans would like to see."
Freddie Roach trains Martirosyan and has recently started training Chavez Jr. If Martirosyan and Chavez Jr. were to both win that could create a potential conflict.
"Freddie trains me. I have been with him longer. I am sure he would want to train me for that fight."
Martirosyan last fought on June 5th on the under card to the Miguel Cotto Yuri
Foreman fight. Martirosyan dropped Joe Greene in the final round en route to
winning a unanimous decision.
