A few weeks ago, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor got in some round of sparring with welterweight contender and former IBO champion Chris Van Heerden in Los Angeles. McGregor posted a video with highlights online - to prove that he could compete in a boxing match with former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But now McGregor finds himself in some hot water, after Van Heerden made allegations that McGregor's footage had been carefully edited to make the MMA superstar look a lot better.

“When you have to cut and edit a video clip by putting pieces together to look good - it shows me your real character,” Van Heerden stated to his social network followers.

The tweet was later deleted by Van Heerden, who issued an apology because he received a lot of free press from the sparring session.

"After a good sleep you all made me think! I apologize for my tweets, should have kept it to myself. Conor McGregor did me a favor in the end," Van Heerden stated.

McGregor is getting ready for his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202. Diaz submitted McGregor in a big upset back in March.  UFC 202 will be held in Las Vegas on August 20.

While Mayweather was pushing hard, at least in the press, for a cross-sport fight with McGregor, UFC President Dana White made it known in multiple interviews that Mayweather (or anyone affiliated with him) had ever reached out to discuss a potential pay-per-view fight against McGregor.
