Former WBA heavyweight ex-champion Nikolay Valuev commented on his bout with David Haye. He admits that he can’t compete with the speed of cruiserweight boxers. Nikolay is tired of “small” opponents and wants to fight big ones.
“If I have any complaints about my promoters, it is the fact that they again and again chose “small”, inconvenient opponents for me, - told Valuev to Sovetskiy Sport. – "Joe Ruiz, Ruslan Chagaev, Evander Holyfield… But I’ve never refused to fight anybody my promoters offered to me. First, because I didn’t want to give them a reason to say something like: “Valuev is too picky”. And second…It’s just not for me, after all, I'm not David Haye to bother everybody with my whims. If seriously, I’m afraid that all my fight with cruiserweights will look the same. It’s time for my promoters to find me a real heavyweight opponent. I want to show the real boxing”.
Nikolay Valuev also discarded all the rumors about his possible career ending.
“You won’t see it, - he said with laughter – "I will not quit boxing. I realize that it won’t be easy to get to the top again. Probably even harder that at first and second times. But I will definitely be back. I will be able to tell you about my future plans [but] only in a few weeks though”.
