Valuev Dislikes Moniker, Wants Klitschko

In an interview with Russian website Pravda, reigning WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev told the publication that he dislikes his "Beast from The East" moniker.

"My mom and dad named me Nikolai. My family name is Valuev. All the rest is bull. said Valuev

Plenty of harsh criticism has fallen on Valuev as a result of his performance in the bout with John Ruiz. Some media felt that Ruiz should of gotten the nod in the fight. Valuev admitted that his ring performance was off and the criticism is warranted.

"That fight did not look beautiful. Most of the criticism leveled at me was pretty justifiable. I found it very hard getting used to Ruiz's style. He was delivering blows with his left arm all the time while ducking his head down onto my chest. I accept any kind of constructive criticism of my performance. In particular, I agree that I should box better and use my right arm more frequently. I will work on that."

When the issue of his April fight in Germany came up, Valuev said that the fight he wants most is against former WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

"A fight (with Wladimir) would cause a great deal of interest both in Germany and Russia. The audience would see who the best boxer of Eastern Europe is. I would like to challenge Wladimir to a fight and eyeball him in the boxing ring."

You're the one who still has hopes in Wlad despite him not looking good in the last 6 years. It's people like you who give credence to people calling Wlad a hype. Keep doing your job. PS: I consider your comment biased as hell too. I'm talking about Peter, not Wlad. There's more chance Peter will polish his skill set and improve than there is Wlad will grow a chin and not lose his legs for 30 seconds everytime he gets clipped... :cool: Thank you very much Captain obvious. Wlad's chin will not get any better, but Wlad took some decent shots in that fight and didn't wobble. The shots to the temple hurt him, and the rabbit punches definitely spelled trouble, but he was never hurt or dropped by any punch to the chin. Your statement about Peter improving is spot on genius. In fact, I don't know why you bothered posting it if not to try to discredit Wlad. Peter makes a young George Foreman look like SRR, so yes pretty much anything would be an improvement over what he is now. The question you should be asking is whether or not there is more chance Peter will be able to improve enough to win a belt with his chin than there is that Wlad will be able to improve enough not to be hit on his and win ANOTHER belt.
