“There’s a huge possibility that my next fight will be held in Pskov”, said WBA #1 cruiserweight Valery Brudov (38-2, 27 KOs) in his exclusive interview to Russian web portal Allboxing. “I miss boxing so much that I have a burning desire to get back into the game. I hope my next fight will land my hometown in June or in early July. I’m eager to showcase myself in front of a home crowd!” The Pskov-native, who once held an interim version of the cruiserweight title, is one of the most obscure Russian contenders. He was last seen an action about a year ago.
“As for a championship fight, I’m ready to go but I’m stuck in limbo for now. There are two possibilities. The first one is to wait for a chance to fight in America. However, Don King does everything to protract our negotiations with his champion. Another opportunity is to arrange a title match-up in Russia. Don King confirmed he was ready to bring the fight to my Homeland. But only if there’s a sufficient financial backup and I cannot find one here right now. So all I have to do is just sit and wait”.
38-year old WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (36-3-2, 28 KOs) hasn’t been seen in the ring since his September 2008 victory over Firat Arslan.
