Valentyn Golovko Stops Valentyn Kuts in Three in Lviv

By Alexey Sukachev

Lanky welterweight Valentyn Golovko (23-1, 16 KOs) continued his comeback after a bitter loss to Jerry Belmontes earlier this year with a solid stoppage win over stagnating compatriot Valentyn Kuts, his second in less than a month.

Golovko vs. Kuts served as a main event of the tournament, promoted by Alex Khanas at the KIHO Event Hall in Lviv, Ukraine. Golovko, 29, drubbed Kuts until the latter failed to answer the bell for round three. Kuts suffered his fifth loss in a row, going down to 22-6, 8 KOs. He is winless since 2010.

In a co-featured bout, former amateur standout Denis Lazarev (4-0, 2 KOs) dropped his previously undefeated Georgian opponent Giorgi Gujejiani (6-1-1, 4 KOs) three times in rounds two and three for a stoppage win in round three.
