Laredo, Texas-- Oscar Valdez made good use of his makeshift main event slot, body punching Jose Ramirez into submission in three rounds Saturday evening at the Energy Center in Laredo, Texas. 

The unbeaten 25-year old from Mexico was upgraded to headlining act when Jesse Magdaleno was pulled due to his opponent coming up as a medical scratch. The crowd was given its money's worth all the same, as Valdez continues to improve with each fight.

Ramirez was as brave and competitive as anyone expected of the matchup. He was literally throwing to the end, flailing an overhand right that never landed as Valdez connected with a picture perfect shot to the midsection. The punch was enough to put Ramirez down for the full 10-count, with the end coming at 2:05 of round three.

Valdez improves to 16-0 (15KOs) with the win, continuing to live up to the lofty expectations placed upon him. A stellar amateur career included a Bronze medal for Mexico during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, though opting to develop more in the non-pay ranks before turning pro in Nov. '12.

The Falcao family is now 4-0 through the first 101 days of 2015. Esquiva Falcao joined his older brother Yamaguchi in picking up his second win on the year, cruising to a six-round decision over Omar Rojas.

Scores were 60-54 across the board in favor of Falcao, a Silver medalist for Brazil in the 2012 London Olympics. The 25-year old middleweight prospect improves to 8-0 (5KOs). The win comes nine days after Yamaguchi scored a six-round win over his own in Los Angeles.
