Recently, WBO PRESIDENT, Francisco Valcárcel, had been in Argentina during a three day trip. First of all, he gave a lot of facilities for poor children at Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires province. More than 100 kids received backpacks, pencils, copybooks and another kind of utilities for school. In the same day, Valcàrcel, in the name of the WBO, gave sports goods for the Young National Argentine Team, the female National Team and for another amateur boxers. The bouts were held in the same place, at Tres de Febrero.
OMAR NARVAEZ received from the President a 14k gold and diamonds ring for his 5th defense of the crown. As a matter of fact, Narvaez has defended his flyweight belt for the 7th time, the last one at Paris, when he defeated Inoum by points. "He stole the show at Paris -said Valcarcel-, Narvaez is a tremendous boxer, and I want to say that it couldnt be more easy for me to give him this ring by Jorge Molina (OMB Latino president) but I prefere to came to Argentina and meet him in person".
RODRIGO BARRIOS was in the same room during the ceremony, at the Argentine Boxing Federation. "I must say that Naseem Hamed told me wants to return to boxing and fight with Barrios", said Valcárcel. "Barrios must first fight Nagy, possibly in Europe, and has a tremendous future in the division".
VALCARCEL also told that Marcelo Dominguez that he will have his chance in the cruiserweight division, and boxers like Hugo Garay (light heavy), Walter and Lucas Mattyssee, have big futures. Valcarcel, who enjoys tango and argentinian steaks, said "Golden Boy Promotions and WBO are working together, so expect a lot of big shows in the future. The WBO has champions such as Joe Calzaghe and Miguel Cotto who are leading the way as we are look ahead for more dignity and quality for boxing in general"
